Whether in person or virtually, I work with individuals who have a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to loss/bereavement, trauma, addiction, anxiety and depression. I support individuals to increase their self-awareness, self-understanding and self-acceptance. I also support clients to develop more effective coping skills, to learn to accept the difficulties associated with being human with equanimity, and to begin to envision a future that is inspiring and hopeful. Positivity and hope form the cornerstones of my work with individuals.
Many couples struggle with communication and compassion for each other in the midst of conflict or difficulty, and at times, they lose sight of what was positive about their relationship. I work with couples to help them better understand the experiences that shape each person in the relationship. In so doing, compassion and trust can begin to shape the foundations of the relationship. In addition, I support couples to to learn to communicate more effectively and to build positive shared experiences into their daily lives.
With over 35 years of experience mentoring a diverse range of students in the university context, I bring knowledge, compassion, and skill to the clinical supervision relationship. I particularly enjoy working with early-career professionals along with experienced professionals, offering new perspectives on the challenges faced by therapists in their work. My goal for clinical supervision is to help therapists become more insightful and attuned to their own responses in the therapy relationship so that they can better serve their clients.
